Modern English VersionAnd now the birth of Christ (was) at his appearing,
and the new day spring (or dawn) was John the Baptist ;
and now the gleam of the true sun
God himself, shall come.Let the crier give out his voice.
And because that the Lord Christ is now the Judge,
Saint John will be the trompet,
and will therefore come with God himself
upon the earth;
let the messenger i.e. Saint John go before him.
